"We highlight parallels between the game of chess, and humanity, to assess the costs associated with achieving so-called “victory” during conflict. We challenge the player to question the clarity of their conviction. Chess_01 illustrates that there are no absolutes, no ultimate right and wrong, no black & white."
Willy Guhl
Willy Guhl (1915–2014) was an Industrial design pioneer whose motto was "achieving the most with the minimum of effort." The loop chair was designed for Etermit, for whom he designed many pieces made out of fibrated cement. Also called The Garden Chair, it was designed in 1954 and in production until 1980.
What is so incredible about these pieces is that, being in excess of 36 years old, each has developed it's own personality from natural corrosion and wear.
Bikes Designed From People's Drawings
In 2009, designer Gianluca Gimini started a project by approaching friends and strangers, handed them a pencil and paper, and asked them to draw a bicycle from memory.
In 2016, Gimini selected the drawings he found "most interesting, genuine, and diverse," and rendered them as if they were real.
He calls it, Velocipedia.
"I collected hundreds of drawings, building up a collection that I think is very precious. There is an incredible diversity of new typologies emerging from these crowd-sourced and technically error-driven drawings. A single designer could not invent so many new bike designs in 100 lifetimes and this is whyI look at this collection in such awe. "

SpaceX Hires Superhero Costume Designer For New Spacesuits
Elon Musk’s space company, SpaceX hired costume designer Jose Fernandez, whose costumes have appeared in Batman v Superman, Iron Man, The Avengers and Tron: Legacy.
Musk said in a 2015 interview that the spacesuit design for SpaceX would focus heavily on design aesthetics, not just utility, saying: “It needs to both look like a 21st century spacesuit and work well.”

My Little Ponies get a Designer Overhaul
12 design houses have designed their own versions of My Little Ponies for charity. The ponies are helping to raise funds for Save the Children the Nepal Earthquake in conjunction with the Make Kids Happy campaign sponsored by Luisaviaroma.
Baik Bike
Idealized by Spanish designer Ion Lucin. The idea was to create a bicycle design with as little elements and lines as possible.
When viewed from the side, Baik appears completely matte black. When viewed at an angle, the insides of every angle come alive with color reinforcing the linework of Lucin's design.
Overfinch Defender 40th Anniversary Edition
As one of the most iconic British vehicles ever, Overfinch are proud to announce an exclusive edition of the Defender, to celebrate our 40th Anniversary.
The edition is strictly limited to a run of just five, individually numbered vehicles.
The external design is completed by Overfinch’s trademark bonnet lettering that has been set in polished black chrome with sandblasted inner.
Inside sees a complete Overfinch leather trim package adorning Recaro front seats that have a bespoke 40th crest stitched into the headrest to mark the anniversary.
The fuel cap has been specially machined in aluminium with discreet Overfinch branding and so too the exterior door handles, giving the vehicle a distinct identity.

A small reconstructed loft in Sofia, Bulgaria with pieces of custom designed furniture.
"After several years living and working in London architect Dimitar Karanikolov and interior designer Veneta Nikolova moved back to Sofia, where they found a small but interesting attic apartment in a newly built development.They spent the next two years reconstructing the place, designing furniture and experimenting with details, and finishes."
Classic Recreation's Ford Mustang GT500CR 900S
Classic Recreations, out of Yukon Oklahoma, has given this 1967 GT500 Shelby Mustang a $25,000 upgrade. Included in this recreation is a 427 cubic-inch Ford Performance engine with a Procharger F1-R supercharger system that in tandem deliver over 800 horsepower.
Some other highlights of this model include a carbon fiber driveshaft, Fast XFI fuel injection system, 18-inch Forgeline Grundge wheels, 275 front and 335 rear BF Goodrich tires, Wilwood six-piston front and six-piston rear brakes, Magnaflow exhaust and a Detroit Speed full suspension system.

The Lincoln Navigator concept for 2017 was unveiled at the New York Auto Show. It comes equipped with "Gullwing Doors," three-step retractable entry, and a "wardrobe management system" (essentially a closet) in the rear.
Printable Solar Cells
Melbourne researchers have successfully created Australia's largest and most flexible solar cells, with the aid of a new printer located at CSIRO.
The scientists are part of a collaboration between research and industry called the Victorian Organic Solar Cell Consortium (VICOSC). The group, consisting of scientists from CSIRO, the University of Melbourne, and Monash University have been working on the technology for over seven years and have figured out a way to cheaply print the panels onto plastic, including smart-phones and laptops, enabling self charging electronics. They are also able to print directly on to walls and windows using an opaque solar film and claim that they can line a skyscraper with panels, making it totally electrically self sufficient.
Handwriting Clock
Created by Kango Suzuki, a product design student in Japan who was inspired by traditional Japanese wind-up dolls. The clock which hand writes the time every minute consists 407 parts and is powered only by four weights.
